Susan A. Wood, PhD
President & Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Wood has 15+ years of experience championing innovative clinical solutions to the marketplace, from concept to revenue.
Dr. Wood most recently held the position of Executive Vice President of Marketing and Technology for Vital Images, an innovative software company specializing in cardiovascular applications for advanced analysis software. Prior to Vital Images, Dr. Wood spent eight years at R2 Technology, most recently serving as VP of Marketing, where she championed the development, regulatory approval and commercial release of the first FDA approved (PMA) software product for the automatic detection of lung nodules in both diagnostic and screening chest CT examinations. She worked for three years at medical imaging software developer ISG Technologies (now Cedara Software), where she served as the Director of Marketing for platform products and multimodality workstations.
Dr. Wood received her Ph.D. from the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions, School of Hygiene and Public Health. Her Ph.D. work combined quantifying three-dimensional lung structure with changes in lung function using high-resolution CT imaging. She also holds a Master of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University, and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park. She is considered a thought leader in computer-aided detection and diagnosis.
Dr. Wood has been issued 6 patents in the field of computer-aided detection and quantitative imaging; authored numerous book chapters, peer-reviewed papers, abstracts, and served as an invited speaker at numerous conferences in the area of three-dimensional imaging of the thorax, quantitative imaging and computer-aided detection.
Sandra Stapleton, MSc.
Chief Operations Officer
Sandra Stapleton has over 20 years’ experience in building and managing operational and engineering functions, as well as developing leading-edge products in the healthcare field.
She joined VIDA after 10 years with Claron Technology Inc. (now Lexmark International) where she was the executive responsible for Claron’s platform business and corporate quality and regulatory functions, and subsequently managed the integration of Claron’s operations with Lexmark. Prior to Claron, Sandra spent five years at R2 Technology, most recently serving as the VP of Technology, where she led the development of R2’s mammography and lung computer-aided detection products. Sandra also spent six years at ISG Technologies (now IBM), as program manager and senior engineer for ISG’s visualization and advanced technology groups, respectively.
Sandra received her MSc. in Medical Biophysics from the University of Toronto.
Ling Ding, MBA, CPA
Vice President of Finance
Prior to joining VIDA, Ling served as Accounting Manager at the Oakland Athletics Baseball Company. Ling also co-authored China Venture Capitalist Confidence Index report (carried in Bloomberg (ticker: CVCCI)). Ling holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration majoring in Finance from the University of San Francisco. She is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Jered Sieren, BS, RTR, MR, CT
Director of Clinical Research & Development
Mr. Sieren has a BSc degree in Radiation Science and is an ARRT board-certified Radiographer in Diagnostic X-ray, Computed Tomography (CT), and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR). He has over 15 years’ experience in Radiological Imaging, with specific expertise on standardization of CT protocols and management of studies using low dose quantitative imaging. He played an integral role in the designing of CT imaging protocols and radiation dose determinations for multiple NIH sponsored studies, including the National Lung Screening Trial, Subpopulations and Intermediate Outcome Measures in COPD Study (SPIROMICS), Severe Asthma Research Project (SARP), Multi-Ethnic Study of Arthrosclerosis (MESA-Lung), and COPDGenetics studies. Mr. Sieren has authored over 30 conference and peer reviewed publications on quantitative radiological imaging.
Marcel Nienhuis, MBA
Vice President of Marketing
Marcel has over 15 years’ experience in marketing, product management, strategy, business development and market research. Prior to joining VIDA, he managed key growth initiates at Vital Images, Inc.
Marcel holds an MBA from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor of Science in Commerce, Marketing from Santa Clara University.
